My mentor would tell me way back when, "there are 3 kinds of instructors":

1. Teacher - The will tell you what they want you to know. 
2. Coach - They will teach you what you want to know
3. Mentor - They will teach you how to do things you didn't know you could do!
 
So if you are entering into the world of wanting to hire a coach / mentor, make sure you know how to tell the difference. The first way to determine if an instructor is a Coach or a Mentor is based on who does more of the talking. When you have your initial conversation and they are so busy telling you about all the great things they have done, and all the documents they have for you to use and read, you can probably bet they have a Coaching mindset. Let me see if I can explain why I say that. Its about them getting you into their process, their way of doing things.
